Crystal Palace midfielder Eberechi Eze came in for praise from Micah Richards today, following claims Manchester City considered signing him.
Eze was on City’s shortlist towards the end of the summer window.
After missing out Lucas Paqueta, City turned their attention to two players.
One being Matheus Nunes, and the other being Eze.
In the end, City plumped for Nunes, paying Wolves around £53 million.
Eze stayed put at Palace, which is a major boost for the Eagles.
It’s been claimed City actually made a play for Eze on deadline. Apparently the club offered £60 million, but Palace were firm in their £80 million valuation.
It remains to be seen if City have made the right choice in Nunes over Eze, with Micah Richards hailing the Eagles star today on Sky Sports…
Micah Richards a huge fan of Manchester City target Eberechi Eze
Today, Richards sang Eze’s praises, ahead of Palace’s game with Wolves in the Premier League at Selhurst Park.

He said: “I’ve kept him (in my fantasy football team). International break is coming up, but he’s got one game left to show me what he can do. How can he have 16 shots and not score, with the quality that he has.
Palace have got some really good, talented, young, hungry, players… but Eze is exceptional. I just love him in that number 10 role. The way he is so calm on the ball, the way he can thread a pass…”
Time will tell if Man City signing Nunes over Eze was the right decision
City fans are generally pretty happy with the signing on Nunes, who is undoubtedly a talented and unique player.
But Eze is also a tremendous player.
It will be really interesting t see how Nunes gets on for City, and also how Eze fares for Palace having stayed put.

It would have been really nice to see Eze in a City shirt.
But fans will have faith in Nunes to deliver, especially with Pep Guardiola already on record as hailing Nunes as one of the best players in the world.
