Cole Palmer has reportedly passed his medical at Chelsea ahead of a move to Stamford Bridge.

The 21-year-old is joining the London club, with City expected to received a £45 million transfer fee.

Chelsea are swooping for Palmer, who has struggled for regular minutes at the Etihad Stadium.

Many fans had been hoping to see Palmer – described recently by Joleon Lescott as ‘an exceptional talent’ – get more minutes following the departure of Riyad Mahrez.

But the arrival of Jeremy Doku has complicated things again for the English youngster.

And now, Palmer will be leaving the club…

Cole Palmer to Chelsea expected to be officially announced tomorrow

According to journalist Matt Law, everything has gone smoothly with Palmer today with his medical tests.

He adds that an announcement of the deal is expected tomorrow rather than tonight.

Fabrizio Romano also reports tonight that Palmer has passed his medical.

Palmer will become the second City player to move to Stamford Bridge in two years, after Raheem Sterling made the same move in the summer of 2022.

Palmer sale a shame, but Man City won’t regret it

It is a genuine shame to see Palmer leave City, especially after Mahrez left the club earlier this summer.

But he clearly feels as though he will have a better chance of regular minutes at Chelsea.

Mauricio Pochettino has a good track record when it comes to developing young players, so perhaps that has also been a factor for Palmer.

Ultimately though, City are getting £45 million for a winger who is only third or fourth choice at the Etihad.

He is going to become one of the biggest sales in the club’s entire history, so fans can’t be too disgruntled.

While it’s a little sad to see him go, it’s a move that works for both club and player.
