Fabrizio Romano has shared an update Kyle Walker’s current situation at Manchester City.

Recent weeks have seen the 33-year-old being linked with a summer transfer move to Bayern Munich.

However, one journalist has shared some behind-the-scenes details on the matter, including the Manchester club’s current stance on the right-back.

In a recent Twitter post, Romano said this on the matter.

He said: “Both Bayern and Manchester City are insisting on Kyle Walker deal. Bayern pushing to sign Walker as new right back, Man City offered him new contract last week and keep insisting to get the green light. Decision up to the player, expected soon.”

Walker joined City back in the 2017 summer transfer window from Tottenham Hotspur in a deal worth an overall reported fee of £50m.

Since then, the Englishman has made 254 appearances for the Citizens across all competitions, scoring six goals, delivering 18 assists and winning numerous trophies.

Having featured in 39 games for Pep Guardiola’s side last season across all competitions, including completing the full 90 minutes in eight of their nine final Premier League games of the campaign, this highlights how important he is for the side.

It also makes us feel that a potential departure this summer for Walker would be a big blow for City and leave a big hole in their squad.

Also, with Romano claiming the Citizens are looking to keep hold of the defender and see him sign a new in-house deal, this highlights how much they value him.

Moving forward, we feel that if the England international decides to stay at the Etihad Stadium and sign a new deal, this would be a big positive for them and put to bed any concerns there may have been about his future.
