Fabio Capello believes Kevin De Bruyne is a bigger difference-maker for Manchester City than Erling Haaland.

Ever since Erling Haaland has joined Pep Guardiola’s men, it has been debated whether he or Kevin De Bruyne is more important to the side.

Of course, others like Rio Ferdinand feel Rodri is the heart and soul of this City side above any other player at their disposal.

Fabio Capello says Kevin De Bruyne is a bigger difference-maker than Erling Haaland for Manchester City

Since Haaland’s arrival, his goal record has been remarkable enough to the extent that some may find it difficult to argue that he is more vital to the Sky Blues’ success than the £54 million (The Telegraph) attacking midfielder.

Others could side with De Bruyne’s game-changing ability superseding the rest at the Etihad Stadium due to his prolonged involvement in their sustained dominance.

But Fabio Capello believes the answer is Kevin De Bruyne and not Erling Haaland when it comes to which out of the two stalwarts is more key to Manchester City’s fortunes.

“Real Madrid and Manchester City, of course [are the favourites to win the Champions League]. City have now recovered [Kevin] De Bruyne, who is the player who makes the difference”, he told MARCA.

“[Erling] Haaland makes the difference because he scores the goals, but De Bruyne is the player who, in the most difficult moment can invent a play and unbalance, even if he does not score.”

Kevin De Bruyne moves the needle the most at the Etihad Stadium

While an argument for Rodri being the most vital player at Manchester City would be a fair one, it is far from an outlandish opinion from Fabio Capello to have sided with Kevin De Bruyne over Erling Haaland when it comes to their respective abilities to turn a game on its head.

While Haaland’s incredible goalscoring ability is undeniably dangerous, De Bruyne can genuinely conjure something out of nothing and has done so at City for almost a decade.

Notably, the Belgian midfielder would be justifiably backed to singlehandedly demolish any side in the world consistently, which perhaps cannot be said for any other player at Manchester City.

As far as game-changers go at the Etihad Stadium, De Bruyne is a cut above the rest, in our view.
