If Manchester City sign Rayan Cherki, he could be one of the most exciting incomings across world football during the summer transfer window.

Even Kylian Mbappe is a fan of Cherki, who has always been billed as a prodigy destined to become a bona fide superstar.

The prospect of the Frenchman working with Pep Guardiola to help City return to their glory days would be a fascinating sight to witness.

Manchester City will bid to sign Cherki in the coming week as ideally, they would be aiming to complete all their summer business in preparation for the FIFA Club World Cup this month.

Man City “confident” about signing Lyon star Rayan Cherki

Rayan Cherki could have the responsibility of helping Manchester City replace Kevin De Bruyne, as he too is a number 10 renowned for creating chances at will.

Thierry Henry has highlighted Cherki’s improvement as an all-round player and it seems like the 21-year-old has finally found himself, scoring 12 goals and providing 20 assists for Lyon last season.

Manchester City are now “confident” about signing the youngster, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Romano believes that for City to seal the deal to sign Cherki, they will have to pay in excess of €30 million (£25.2 million).

Currently, both clubs are in conversation as the Sky Blues’ intention remains to sign the French U-21 international and Tijjani Reijnders, who could join Manchester City soon as well.

French players to have played for Man City

If Cherki signs for Manchester City, he could be the 17th player from his country to do so.

FRENCH PLAYERS WHO HAVE PLAYED FOR MAN CITY
GAEL CLICHY
SAMIR NASRI
NICOLAS ANELKA
ELIAQUIM MANGALA
BACARY SAGNA
PATRICK VIEIRA
OUSMANE DABO
ANTOINE SIBIERSKI
SYLVAIN DISTIN
ALIOUNE TOURE
LAURENT CHERVET
JEREMY HELAN
DAVID FAUPALA
CLAUDIO GOMES
FLORIAN LEJUNE
BENJAMIN MENDY

The likes of Samir Nasri and Gael Clichy particularly did well for City, winning two Premier League titles apiece after moving to the Etihad Stadium from Arsenal.

Similarly, Bacary Sagna and Nicolas Anelka also impressed at City.

However, Cherki could eclipse all his fellow countrymen at Manchester City.

With the potential the silky technician has, the sky is his limit.

Considering Cherki is yet to even reach his prime, Pep Guardiola could turn him into a truly world-class player.
