It seems like Manchester City are ready to wrap their transfer business up for the summer judging by the recent speculation.
On Wednesday, Fabrizio Romano revealed Pep Guardiola contacted Ilkay Gundogan as soon as he discovered that Barcelona were preparing themselves to offload him this summer.
Gundogan and Guardiola were spotted dining out in the Manchester City boss’ restaurant, TAST on Wednesday night as the transfer looks set to be completed now.
City’s seemingly quick response to making a swoop for the German perhaps also stemmed from them being aware of the fact that there was not much time left in the transfer window for them to get their business done.
However, the purpose of both the summer and winter transfer windows is not just for clubs to make incomings but also make key sales.
The decision-makers at the Etihad Stadium would have spent a bulk of the summer assessing their expected outgoings and discussing the potential deals they have been offered or are expected to.

Romano shares transfer update about Man City star
Joao Cancelo is one player at Manchester City whose future has remained uncertain since his loan deal at Barcelona came to an end.
Despite training with the club, the 30-year-old — described as “exceptional” by Pep Guardiola once via Manchester City’s official website was excluded from their matchday squad against Chelsea.
It seems like once again, the Portuguese full-back is not in the £378,846-a-week man’s plans for the 2024/2025 season.
But Fabrizio Romano has revealed on X that Al Hilal have submitted a formal bid to sign Cancelo.
The negotiations are believed to be underway with the former Juventus defender and his camp.
Cancelo is Al Hilal boss Jorge Jesus’ favoured option at right-back for his side.
If the Manchester City technician signs for the Saudi Pro League giants, their current right-back Saud Abdulhamid could join AS Roma — with talks about his move to the club having taken place.
Ideal for all parties involved if Joao Cancelo joins Al Hilal
If Cancelo’s move to Al Hilal is confirmed, all parties involved will be benefited.
Manchester City will finally be able to move a player on who is evidently not in their plans and get a fee for him after his two loan spells at Bayern Munich and Barcelona.
Al Hilal will be satisfied as Cancelo is Jorge Jesus’ dream right-back.
While the ex-Valencia man will also secure a permanent move to the Saudi Arabian side.
