Manchester City saw a handful of players leave the club during the recent summer transfer window.
For instance, City saw the likes of Julian Alvarez, Sergio Gomez and Joao Cancelo wave goodbye to the Etihad Stadium to join new clubs on permanent deals.
Even though the window has now closed, another figure in Pep Guardiola’s squad has recently found themselves being linked with a move away from the Manchester club.
Earlier this week, it was reported that Mateo Kovacic is of interest to Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr.

Fabrizio Romano addresses Mateo Kovacic transfer rumours
Following the recent rumours surrounding Kovacic, Fabrizio Romano had this to say in his recent column for Caught Offside on the situation.
He said: “There’s nothing at this stage regarding Mateo Kovacic moving to the Saudi Pro League.
“No talks, nothing. In January we will see and his future will also depend on how much he will play, but nothing is ongoing now. I don’t know where this is coming from.”
Kovacic has been key for City so far this season
City paid £25m to sign the Croatian from Chelsea back in the 2023 summer transfer window.
In his debut season with the Blues, Kovacic appeared in 46 games across all competitions, starting 30 of them.
After completing the full 90 minutes in City’s Community Shield victory over Manchester United, Kovacic has then gone on to start all three of the club’s Premier League games.
This shows just how much of a key figure the 30-year-old has been for Guardiola’s side so far this season.
Now that Romano has dismissed the reported interest from Saudi in Kovacic, this should allow everyone at City to focus on their season with the midfielder carrying on to play a key role in it potentially.
