Fans make ominous Phil Foden prediction after what Man City star just uploaded, ‘mark my words’

Manchester City fans are hoping the 2025/26 season will bring a lot of success, and Phil Foden will also be hoping to improve dramatically.

Manchester City had a campaign to forget, finishing third in the Premier League and failing to win a trophy.

The Club World Cup offered a chance to end the season on a high.

But after breezing through the first few games, City then lost to Al-Hilal in the Round of 16.

The City players are currently recharging their batteries in various exotic locations around the world, but will all soon report back for pre-season training.

But for some, like Phil Foden, the work has already started.

Foden was perhaps one of the biggest disappointments last season, unfortunately.

After being named the Player of the Season in 2023/24, Foden was unable to kick on for City.

He had fitness issues, and Foden also admitted to facing mental challenges off the pitch.

It meant that Foden finished 2024/25 with 10 goals and six assists to his name. He then added three goals and one assist at the Club World Cup.

Not awful numbers by any means, but the expectations for Foden are a lot higher than for most other players, given how good he is.

But Foden is clearly determined to have a much better season in 2025/26 and yesterday, he uploaded some training footage on Instagram – and he is definitely looking sharp.

Foden can be seen dribbling the ball using three poles to evade someone acting as a defender, and in other clips, he is also practising his shooting, finding the corners with deadly accuracy.

On social media, fans were excited.

@benjy_mulenga: “Got a feeling the Starboy kept receipts for all the haters.”

@theOneandOnly13: “Investing in this 20-goal season coming.”

@demmolaa: “We’re back.”

@retrodreadz: “Having him on form will make us extremely dangerous.”

@N1ssue: “It’s gonna be scary for our opponents.”

Foden had also looked super sharp in training at the Club World Cup, with recent footage showing him and Omar Marmoush looking as though they were in competition with one another in a shooting drill.

Foden must raise his game after Man City transfer business

It is good to see Foden getting some early preparations done ahead of everyone returning.

It is not uncommon for players to do this, but regardless, Foden obviously knows he needs to respond after last season.

On his day, Foden is unplayable and City fans everywhere long to see him get back to the levels he was showing in 2023/24.

Phil Foden for Manchester City
Appearances – 319
Goals – 100
Assists – 61

City have done some good business so far this summer, so Foden will have to raise his game if he is to play regularly.

The recent additions of Rayan Cherki and Tijjani Reijnders potentially put him under a bit more pressure to deliver.

But one suspects Foden will come out of the blocks quickly this term and really try to atone for last term – he is simply too good a player, with a passion too strong for football, to endure a second sub-par season.
