Manchester City have a young player on their books who fans of his loan side have been hailing after his latest display, with one even saying he “will win multiple Ballon D’ors”.

The Citizens have made a real effort in recent years to sign young players for both their academy and their first team with an eye on the future.

Manchester City’s system is clearly working, as their Under-18s and Under-21s teams are among the best in the country, and both won silverware last season.

And now, a teenager City only signed in the summer is already turning heads at his current club, with fans tipping him for a huge future in the game.

Middlesbrough fans blown away by Sverre Nypan display vs Preston

Man City landed one of the best young players in world football this summer when they snapped Sverre Nypan up from Rosenborg.

Man City beat the likes of Arsenal and Aston Villa to sign Nypan from the Norwegian club before loaning him out to Middlesbrough.

Boro insiders were already impressed with his “fabulous” start to life at the Riverside, as GRV Media chief correspondent and Boro fan Graeme Bailey said during the international break.

And on Saturday, Nypan went one better when he delivered a masterclass – complete with assist – in Boro’s 2-2 draw with Preston North End.

Nypan came on in the 65th minute and a moment of magic from him yielded Boro’s first equaliser as he weaved his way past two defenders to set up Matt Target.

Boro fans were absolutely buzzing with the Man City loanee’s display, with one writing on X: “Nypan is just a joke isn’t he! We have the best squad we’ve had in YEARS!”

Another supporter said: “Nypan is a starter in any team in the world. Personally I’d start him and Whittaker as 10s.”

The praise for Nypan kept coming, with one fan saying: “Nypan is by far and away our best footballer btw.”

Another wrote: “Nypan looks the real deal! Would take that point all day long! On to the next one!”

And another said: “Nypan is a sure starter for the next game, such a bright footballer and a joy to watch.”

Any comparisons with Boro legend Juninho are seen as the pinnacle for any Boro player, and one fan did just that.

“Nypan was bitten by a radioactive Juninho,” one delighted supporter said.

Sverre Nypan stats vs Preston

Alongside his goal contribution, Nypan weighed in with some decent stats on the day.

The substitute completed one dribble, created one chance, won three out of the five ground duels he attempted, and won the one aerial duel he contested.

Nypan also chipped in with two tackles to help his side get over the line.

It’s not all that common for an 18-year-old footballer to be impressing in the second tier of the Championship, and Nypan is doing just that.

He’s certainly going about things the right way, and it’ll be exciting to see how he continues to fare this season.
