Bernardo Silva has marvelled at the ‘connection’ between Kevin De Bruyne and Erling Haaland last season.

Speaking to club media, the Portuguese international was asked to name the Belgian’s greatest assist at City.

After singling out the iconic pass Kevin De Bruyne played to Leroy Sane in Manchester City’s 7-2 thrashing of Stoke City in 2017, Bernardo Silva said he probably has plenty more of such assists to his name due to his relationship with Erling Haaland.

Even Kolo Toure said that the £51 million (Sky Sports) man’s addition to the Sky Blues raised Kevin De Bruyne’s level, who he branded as ‘outstanding.’

After all, the £54 million (Guardian) midfielder registered a staggering 31 assists in all competitions, which goes to show how much Haaland’s move to the Etihad Stadium helped his game.

Now, Bernardo Silva has also lauded the chemistry that Kevin De Bruyne and Erling Haaland shared during Manchester City’s treble-winning season.

“And last season, the connection between him and Erling was fantastic so he’s probably got a few of them [assists] as well”, he said.

The Manchester City pair was the best duo in world football

Much like Vinicius Jr. and Karim Benzema during the 2021/2022 campaign, Kevin De Bruyne and Erling Haaland shared a similarly telepathic understanding last season.

It seemed like Pep Guardiola’s men had a cheat code at their disposal, with the pair constantly linking up with each other to wreak havoc.

De Bruyne’s inch-perfect final ball, especially his stunning crossing coupled with Haaland’s dream positioning in the box made them a match made in heaven.

Time and again, the duo emerged as City’s most likely answer to put the ball in the back of the net in a season that has gone down in history.
