Fernandinho has shared his thoughts on what makes Pep Guardiola such as special manager.

The midfielder brought an end to his time with the Citizens at the end of last season, having won his fifth Premier League title with the club.

Now though, with City having won the title again, the Brazilian has been speaking about his time at the Manchester club.

Fernandinho highlights what makes Guardiola the best

Speaking in a recent interview with Alan Shearer for The Athletic, Fernandinho had this to say about his former City boss.

He said: “Pep makes you understand that football is more simple than you think. He’s got the power to convince you, to show you, to prove to you on a daily basis in training sessions, in meetings, and especially during games, that everything he’s telling you is going to happen.

“The way I see football now, I’d never, ever seen it like that before I met him. That’s why he’s considered one of the greatest managers of all time and that’s why he’s a hunter of titles.

“He’s 100 per cent focused on his job, on his work, on extracting a better version of his players every day. If there’s something he thinks you’re capable of doing, he’s going to tell you, he’s going teach you, he’s going to convince you until you do it. He’s really, really special.”

During his time at the Etihad Stadium, Fernandinho made 383 appearances for the club, with 244 of them coming under the guidance of Guardiola.

With the Spaniard winning numerous trophies throughout his managerial career with Barcelona, Bayern Munich and City, this gives a general view of how successful he has been in charge of these clubs.

However, with Fernandinho sharing this insight into how the 52-year-old gets the best out of his players, this makes it easier to see how and why he has been such a successful manager.

Earlier this week, the City manager picked up the LMA’s Manager of the Year award, making it his third in total.

Having secured City’s fifth Premier League title in six years last month, Guardiola now has the chance ahead of him to make history and win the FA Cup this weekend and possibly the Champions League the weekend after for the first time with the Citizens.

If the club were to win both trophies, this would definitely put the Spaniard up as one of the greatest managers English football has had.
