It has been reported that Manchester City are set to insert a buy-back clause in a deal involving West Ham United-bound gem Carlos Borges.

This comes from Fabrizio Romano, after it was claimed on Thursday that the teenager was closing in on a transfer to David Moyes’ side in a deal worth £14 million.

Now, it seems like Manchester City will only allow Carlos Borges to sign for West Ham United if a buy-back clause is agreed upon.

Fabrizio Romano: Manchester City want buy-back clause in Carlos Borges to West Ham transfer

The Portuguese winger is one of the Sky Blues’ brightest talents, winning the Premier League 2 Player of the Season after registering a staggering 24 goals and 15 assists.

In fact, amongst the City fanbase, it was believed for the longest time that much like in the cases of Phil Foden, Cole Palmer and Rico Lewis, the 19-year-old too would become a part of the first-team.

Now, it has been reported that Manchester City now intend to insert a buy-back clause in a deal involving Carlos Borges’ imminent move to West Ham.

In addition, the deal is at the ‘final stages’ as the Hammers aim to get the transfer finalized this week.

Manchester City have a clear plan for the future

Considering Manchester City also have a buy-back clause in the case of James Trafford, they realize that they cannot simply afford to lose out on talents like him and the Irons-bound wideman as well.

With both being far too good to simply warm the bench, the intention at City is to assess their developments elsewhere and potentially bring them in the future.

After all, while a speedy winger like Borges may not be fancied by Guardiola in his current setup, the next manager after him may do so, especially as the latter’s contract at the club runs out in 2025.

As a result, the Sky Blues are clearly looking at the bigger picture, which makes them one of, if not the best-run club in world football.
