A revelation about how Real Madrid feel about their chances of wrapping up a transfer for Erling Haaland from Manchester City has come to the fore.
Three weeks ago, it was reported that the release clause worth £175 million in the Norwegian’s contract was removed and a contract extension was set to be offered to him by City.
Before this update, many speculated that Erling Haaland was destined to leave Manchester City in favour of a transfer to Real Madrid.
As a result, how the Spanish giants internally feel about their chances of signing him have come to the fore.
How Real Madrid feel about their Haaland transfer chances
The £51 million (Eurosport) has been unstoppable ever since joining Pep Guardiola’s side, as he is currently Europe’s top scorer with 51 goals in all competitions.
Considering Real Madrid tried to get a transfer over the line for Erling Haaland before he joined Manchester City, how they feel about their chances down the line has surfaced.

“The Real Madrid hierarchy probably want to keep good relations with the Haaland’s, since the firm belief from everyone you speak to around the club is that Erling will be joining them ‘within three years, probably sooner’, Miguel Delaney wrote in the Independent’s newsletter.
Delaney elaborated about when Real Madrid believe they could ensure a transfer for Erling Haaland from Manchester City is made official, saying, “Some are even insisting that the move will happen before the 2024-25 season. That will be news to Manchester City, who almost stand alone among modern super clubs in not yet losing any of their stars or best-paid players to rival clubs.”
“They won’t want to start with a figure that has already become a bigger star than anyone they have yet had at the club.”
MCN View: Getting Haaland out of the Etihad Stadium will be a challenge for every club
Hypothetically speaking, even if Erling Haaland fancies a transfer from Manchester City to Real Madrid down the line, the deal would a challenge to get done.
For starters, the 22-year-old is arguably the best player in the world currently and as he improves, his price tag will only inflate.
Haaland’s existing deal expires in 2027 and an extension would only make it tougher for Los Blancos to sign him eventually.
As a result, the reported aim of signing him in 2024 from Los Blancos seems ambitious to say the least.
