Micah Richards has said that Matheus Nunes will be a good fit for Manchester City’s team.
The midfielder made his first start for the Manchester club in midweek during their 3-1 win over Red Star Belgrade in the Champions League since arriving at the club from Wolves in a deal worth £53m towards the end of the recent summer transfer window.
With the 25-year-old in with a chance of getting his second start for Pep Guardiola’s side this afternoon in the Premier League clash against Nottingham Forest, one pundit and former City player has had his say about what sort of figure Nunes could be for the club.
Richards impressed with Nunes
Speaking in a recent edition of The Rest is Football, Richards had this to say about Nunes.
He said: “Very silky. I don’t think we know quite what his best position is in this team but he’s got beautiful feet, some really good passing, good energy, strong runner with the ball. He’ll fit in like a glove.”
Looking back on the win against Red Star, the former Wolves star showed how capable he is on the ball and what danger he can provide in an attacking sense.
Specifically, in addition to racking up a higher passing accuracy percentage (97%) than any other City player on the day, Nunes made six key passes in total.
His overall performance ultimately earned the midfielder an impressive match rating of 8.7/10 from SofaScore, making him the second-highest rated City player on the night.
Looking ahead to the Forest match, if Guardiola decides to keep the Portuguese international in the starting XI, this will be another great opportunity for the summer recruit to stake a claim in this City side and find where his best position could be, as Richards alluded to.
