Ben Foster has said that Manchester City defensive midfielder Rodri is most certainly better than Manchester United lynchpin Casemiro.

The well-liked goalkeeper gave his view on the comparison between the Brazilian international and the £62.8 million (Independent) on ‘The Football Fill-In.’

According to Ben Foster, as brilliant as Casemiro is, Rodri is in a league of his own.

Ben Foster says Manchester City anchor Rodri is better than Manchester United’s Casemiro

Branded as ‘complete’ by Frank Leboeuf, the Spaniard has had yet another extraordinary season, capped off by scoring the winner in the Champions League final against Inter Milan.

In fact, there is a valid case to make for the former Atletico Madrid anchor to have been City’s most consistent player over the last two campaigns.

When picking his Premier League Team of the Season, Ben Foster said that Casemiro is not at the level of Rodri, who he regards as the best in the world in his position.

“For me, probably the second best holding midfielder this season behind Rodri.”

It’s safe to say that many would have the same opinion, if put on the spot about which No.6 comes out on top.

Rodri is on another stratosphere to the rest

Ben Foster is spot on and while Casemiro certainly ranks above the ex-Villareal midfielder when looking at his entire career, the latter undoubtedly has the edge over him since the 2021/2022 season.

It is almost impossible to find a fault in the now-treble winner’s game.

On the ball, Rodri is the best in the world, drawing understandable comparisons to Sergio Busquets.

While off the ball, despite not having an engine quite like Casemiro, his reading of the game allows him to be perfectly positioned to screen the back four.

All in all, Rodri is just the gold standard for defensive midfielders in the world and looks destined to become one of the greatest players to have ever played in the position.
