Journalist Alex Crook has backed Rico Lewis to get a significant amount of game time at Manchester City next season.
The Citizens are about to kick off their pre-season schedule in Asia following their treble-winning campaign last term which saw Pep Guardiola’s side win their fifth Premier League title in six years as well as the FA Cup and their first Champions League trophy.
Looking ahead to their upcoming campaign, one journalist has predicted that one player in Guardiola’s ranks, who wasn’t a particular regular starter in the side last season, could have a big role in the team moving forward.
Crook backs Lewis for regular game time next season

Speaking on talkSPORT, Crook had this to say about Lewis when discussing some of the younger players currently in
He said: “Rico Lewis, I think will get games next season, for sure.”
Last season saw the 18-year-old start 16 of the 23 senior games he appeared in across all competitions for the Citizens.
10 of those starts came in the Premier League, some of which were against big sides such as Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur.

This showcases the faith, belief and confidence that Guardiola has in the youngster and his ability to be a useful figure for the first team.
Another interesting factor in Lewis‘ game is his versatility, which he showed last season by playing in numerous roles across the defence and midfield.
This could be what makes him a go-to player for the City boss next season and why Crook thinks he could have a big role in the team, especially given the number of competitions they’ll be playing in across the campaign.
