Frank Lampard has named Manchester City legend David Silva as a ‘true pleasure’ to play alongside.
The Premier League icon had spent 13 glittering years at Chelsea and always looked like he would finish his career at Stamford Bridge.
However, he unexpectedly turned up at City in 2014, joining on loan from sister club New York City FC.
Lampard was only supposed to stay in Manchester for six months but impressed so much his stay was extended until the end of the season.
The 45-year-old played 38 times for Manuel Pellegrini’s side, scoring eight goals, and played alongside greats like Sergio Aguero, Vincent Kompany and Silva.
The Spanish playmaker blew him away and he noticed his class immediately.

What Frank Lampard noticed about David Silva
Speaking to City’s in-house media, he said: “David was quiet around the place but what an incredible player.
“I noticed it first in training and he was of the highest, highest level. He was right up there.
“But his humility as a lad made him even more special to me because he had zero ego.
“He just came in, did his job and did it a high, high level. So he was a true pleasure to play with.
“I always reference David because of his talent but also his personality. He was incredible.”
A true City great
Silva will, and has, gone down as an all-time City great. With a statue outside the Etihad Stadium to prove it.
The diminutive creator dazzled with his grace and elegance on the pitch, playing such a key role in several great City sides.
Silva spent a decade in Manchester playing 436 games, scoring 77 goals and notching up an incredible 140 assists.
He left as a free agent in 2020 and returned to Spain with Real Sociedad, where he enjoyed an Indian summer to his fantastic career.
However, his career was brought to a sad end last July after he suffered a serious knee injury. But all his great moments will not be forgotten at City.
