Frank Leboeuf has now revealed whether he would rather be managed by Pep Guardiola or Carlo Ancelotti.

Both Guardiola and Ancelotti are up there when it comes to being contenders for the title of the greatest manager in the history of the game.

An intriguing aspect of both coaches’ careers is their openness to managing in different countries, with both having managed in Spain, Italy and Germany over their incredibly successful spans in coaching.

Even currently, while Pep Guardiola is managing Manchester City, Carlo Ancelotti is coaching Real Madrid, two clubs that do not hail from their native countries of Spain and Italy respectively.

There is not much to split the legendary coaches, who go about management in different ways.

While Guardiola is a tactical genius, Ancelotti seems to rely on man-management and giving his players the freedom to express themselves in his setups.

Frank Leboeuf initially praised both Pep Guardiola and Carlo Ancelotti, as not only managers but midfielders during their playing careers.

“I think [Carlo] Ancelotti is more like a father, like more of a protective person. But Pep [Guardiola] is a genius and I played against Pep. I’ve seen Ancelotti playing, they were two fantastic midfielders. But Pep was very special as a player.”

“I played against him and I saw him in Qatar, he was one year with me in Qatar and I saw him talking and talking, he was already a coach on the field and I felt he would be somebody special”, he said [via ESPN FC].

However, Frank Leboeuf eventually sided with the choice of working under Pep Guardiola over Carlo Ancelotti.

“He’s so smart, he feels the game, he’s inventive as well, I would have loved to play under Pep.”

Ultimately, there would be no wrong answer when picking between the choice of being managed by either Pep Guardiola or Carlo Ancelotti, as Frank Leboeuf chose to pick the former.

It seems like the World Cup winner would rather work with a tactical expert like Guardiola, who is known to have quite an intense personality when it comes to football, judging by his answer.

Others may perhaps wish to work with Carlo Ancelotti due to his calm demeanour and how he seems to be the kind of manager who becomes a father figure for his players.
