Joao Cancelo has been speaking about life at Barcelona, after completing a season-long loan move away from Manchester City.

The Portugal international spoke to SPORT about his time at the Camp Nou so far.

So, what did Joao Cancelo say about life at Barcelona? Let’s take a look…

What’s the story?

Well, the 29-year-old seems to be enjoying his time in Catalonia so far.

Cancelo said: “The coach gives me a little freedom and I like that. I feel comfortable playing inside but also outside. I will adapt to everything he asks of me.”

The full-back also admitted that he is in “need” of an impressive season, after failing to hit the heights of years gone by on loan at Bayern Munich last term.

Cancelo added: “I’m going to do everything to explode at Barca. I’ll try to show my football, my quality, but always with the help of the team, bbecause I need it and I think we have a lot of quality in the squad. I hope it will be a great season.”

Xavi has handed the Portuguese defender 31 minutes of action since signing him on transfer deadline day, which came in the 2-1 win over Osasuna.

Barcelona will try to sign Joao Cancelo from Manchester City if he performs well

Interestingly, Deco – Sporting Director at Barcelona – has already explained what the Spanish giants plan to do if Cancelo does well this season.

Fabrizio Romano quoted the 46-year-old as saying: “There’s no buy option in both João Félix and Cancelo deals – one year loan. If they perform at good level, we will try to keep them at the club. We will be on it.”

It will be interesting to see what happens if Felix and Cancelo do well this season, as Barcelona’s financial limitations are well known, and it may not be possible to sign both on a permanent basis.

Ultimately, Manchester City will be hoping that Cancelo shines in Spain and a substantial fee is made from his sale – after his falling out with Pep Guardiola, a future at the Etihad Stadium seems unlikely.
