Erling Haaland has opened up about his early days at Manchester City and what it was like behind the scenes at the club.

The striker joined City from Borussia Dortmund during the 2022 summer transfer window in a deal worth £51m.

He then went on to have a very successful debut season with the Citizens, which ended with them winning the Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League.

With the Norwegian and the rest of his City teammates now on the hunt to regain their titles from the previous campaign, the centre-forward has shared some details on what it was like when he first joined the club.

Speaking in a recent edition of the official Man City Podcast, Haaland had this to say on the matter.

He said: “My first weeks and months, I wanted to get settled in the team as quickly as possible. To get to know people, get to know the whole club and how they play and how they do things. In the big picture, it was to win the Champions League. That’s what I said when I came here, that was the goal.

“From the first day I came here, I enjoyed it. There are good vibes in the locker room and in the CFA, so I felt like it was a place I wanted to come to and an environment I wanted to be in and I think you saw that on the pitch as well.”

It didn’t take the centre-forward long to get settled into the team after his arrival, as he scored 17 goals across his first 11 Premier League games.

By the end of the campaign, the 23-year-old had found the back of the net 52 times across 53 games in all competitions, breaking numerous records along the way.

Now that Haaland has revealed how much of a positive vibe there was in the dressing room after his arrival, this could well have played a big role in how effective he was and has been on the pitch in terms of scoring goals on a regular basis.

Moving forward, now that the Norway international has made his return from an ankle injury, if he can get back to scoring goals consistently, he’ll give Pep Guardiola’s side a great chance of winning more silverware.
