Gabby Agbonlahor claims one Man City player ‘hasn’t had the best of tournaments’ at Euro 2024

Gabby Agbonlahor has been left unimpressed by one Manchester City player at Euro 2024.

The tournament comes to an end this weekend, with just four nations left in now.

Spain and France do battle on Tuesday, with England then taking on the Netherlands the following night.

City are guaranteed to have at least one player in the final, with Nathan Ake coming up against Kyle Walker, Phil Foden and John Stones.

With Spain looking very strong, there is every chance that Rodri will be there too.

England fans are hoping for big improvements against the Netherlands. While Gareth Southgate’s side were slightly better against Switzerland on Saturday, it still wasn’t great.

This morning, Agbonlahor was speaking about Kyle Walker.

Kyle Walker has played every minute for England so far at Euro 2024.

The 34-year-old has come in for criticism for some of his performances, but Southgate’s faith in the player has been unwavering up to now.

He appears to have his place in the team locked down, whether that’s as a right-back, or on the right of a three.

Walker was discussed on talkSPORT this morning, and Gabby Agbonlahor gave his thoughts about the City man.

He said: “I feel that Kyle Walker, he has not had the best of tournaments, but I am hoping that if he can turn on in that game against Mbappe, he has done well in recent years against Mbappe.

“But I think it is going to be a hard one to call, the final, but the way England, it feels like we are going to go on and win it like the way Portugal did, like Greece did. We are not going to win it in style. So, it is not going to be the most entertaining final, but I am going to go with France to be runners-up and England to win it.”

Stuart Pearce also said recently that he felt Walker hadn’t been playing particularly well out in Germany.

After England squeezed past Slovakia, Agbonlahor had said that Walker had his worst game ever for England.

England cannot think beyond the Netherlands

Agbonlahor talking about a potential meeting between England and France in the final is somewhat arrogant, because both nations have been poor at Euro 2024.

The Netherlands and Spain have looked far better, especially Spain. It would be no surprise to see there being a repeat of the 2010 World Cup final on Sunday.

Agbonlahor’s verdict on Walker though is probably fair.

The City captain didn’t have a particularly great 2023/24 season, and has left a lot to be desired out in Germany so far. He did grab an assist against Denmark, but positionally at times he has been suspect. He was strongly criticised for his role in Slovakia’s goal in the Round of 16.

If England do reach the final, Walker will need to bring his A-game against either France or Spain.
