Gareth Southgate has shared his thoughts on Manchester City winger Jack Grealish after his latest England performance.

In his latest season with the Manchester club, the winger only started 26 of the 36 games he appeared in across all competitions.

Last week, the 28-year-old reportedly cut his holiday short to join up with his England teammates in an effort to boost his chances of being included in the squad for the upcoming European Championship in Germany.

In England’s recent 3-0 friendly win over Bosnia-Herzegovina last night, Grealish came on as a second-half substitute and went on to provide the assist for Trent Alexander-Arnold’s goal to put the Three Lions 2-0 up.

After the game, the England manager shared his thoughts on the City star, including the qualities he has as a player and what he’s like as a personality behind the scenes.

Speaking in his post-match press conference, Southgate had this to say about Grealish when asked if the winger’s cameo performance against Bosnia showed him the impact the City star can have in games and if his early arrival in the squad proved his determination to be in the final squad.

He said: “We know the qualities he has and absolutely what he’s capable of doing, so that’s not in any question.

“As I said yesterday, he’s a player that we love having with the group and for us he’s a great character to work with.”

Will Grealish be included in the final England squad?

For last night’s game, Grealish was the only City player in the matchday squad and he only came on in the 63rd minute to replace Eberechi Eze.

During his time on the pitch, the 28-year-old had 22 touches of the ball in total where he made 15 accurate passes and two key passes

Grealish also won two fouls for his side and won two of the four duels he was involved in.

In terms of his assist for Alexander-Arnold’s goal, the winger produced a cross from one side of the pitch to the other which the Liverpool defender got on the end of to volley in England’s second goal of the game.

Now that Southgate has reiterated how much belief he has in Grealish’s ability on the pitch and highlighted how good he is to work with in terms of his personality, this makes us feel that he has a strong chance of being included in the final squad, regardless of how much game time he may get in the tournament.
