Gary Lineker has named which team he would rather play for out of Manchester City and Liverpool.
The two teams have been great rivals over the last five seasons, with each driving the other to a remarkable level of football.
Manchester City have twice only managed to win the Premier League by a single point as Liverpool matched them stride-for-stride until the final day of the season.
The Merseyside outfit have enjoyed better success in cup competitions, knocking Pep Guardiola’s side out of the Champions League and FA Cup in recent years as well as winning the Community Shield in 2022.
Jurgen Klopp will leave Anfield after nine seasons in charge this summer and with his departure will come an end to a sensational contest between two of the game’s great managers.
The clubs have dominated English football for half a decade and Gary Lineker has chosen which one he would like to play for more.

Gary Lineker picks who he’d rather play for out of City and Liverpool
Speaking on The Rest is Football’s YouTube channel, Lineker was asked who he would like to play up front for in the modern game.
He said: “I think that would probably be Liverpool or Manchester City.
“They’ve got different styles but I think I’ll probably go with Manchester City because they get to the byline more often but there’s not a lot in it.”
How would Gary Lineker fit in the Man City side?
It’s easy to forget after decades of crisp adverts and Match of the Day chats, but Lineker was a sensational striker back in his heyday.
The now 63-year-old scored a fantastic 331 career goals for his clubs and country and enjoyed successful stays at Tottenham, Everton and Barcelona.
Lineker in his pomp is the sort of striker which would suit City well, or at least after some pointers from Guardiola.
He obviously had great instincts in the box and a high awareness of space and positioning to score his goals. He would certainly tuck a few away at the Etihad.
