Gary Neville crowns Kevin De Bruyne as the ‘best player in the Premier League’

Gary Neville has been left away by Manchester City vice-captain Kevin De Bruyne.

Despite claims that he was not having his best season, the £54 million (Sky Sports) man has silenced all his doubters by putting in yet another world-class campaign, especially during the title run-in.

Gary Neville needs no reminding, as he has maintained that Kevin De Bruyne is well and truly in a league of his own.

What did Gary Neville say about Kevin De Bruyne?

The Belgian international has five goals and 15 assists in the Premier League, as he continues to strengthen his case for being the greatest midfielder to ever grace the English game, which he was voted as in a recent fan poll.

Especially in the big games during the title run-in, De Bruyne has been impressively clutch, against the likes of Arsenal and Liverpool, as well as Bayern Munich in the 2nd leg of the Champions League.

In a Q&A session on Twitter, Gary Neville described Kevin De Bruyne as the ‘best player in the league.’

While names like Martin Odegaard, Bukayo Saka and Harry Kane have been floated around as contenders for this title, as well as Sky Blues teammate Erling Haaland, the Manchester United legend still believes the midfield maestro is in a league of his own.

In all fairness, just on the basis of this season, Haaland deserves that title the most, not just in the league but across the world as well.

But Gary Neville recognises that the four-time Premier League winner has remained dominant for almost an entire decade in a Manchester City shirt and as an all-round player, not a single player is a match for him.

While certain players may be a match for De Bruyne or may have even surpassed him on form this campaign, it does not particularly matter.

Years of evidence of being elite whilst still remaining incredibly clutch when the lights are the brightest makes him an incomparable force of nature.
