Manchester City are off to a winning start in the Premier League, beating Chelsea 2-0 at Stamford Bridge.

Pep Guardiola is potentially embarking on his final season in charge at City, and he has got off to the perfect start with a 2-0 victory at Stamford Bridge.

Erling Haaland grabbed the game’s only goal, with the Norwegian striking in the first-half after good play by Jeremy Doku and Bernardo Silva.

The star was making his 100th appearance for the club, and it was his 91st goal.

City fans also got to see Savinho make his Premier League, but unfortunately, he had to go off at half-time with an injury.

During the game, Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville offered his verdict on the winger.

Savinho had shown some encouraging signs when he came off the bench against Manchester United in the Community Shield.

Following the injury to Oscar Bobb earlier this week, Pep decided to start the youngster – and it proved to be a good selection from the manager.

Savinho took a bit of time to feel his way into the game, starting on the right side initially.

But after swapping with Doku and playing on the left, he really came to life.

Savinho gave Marc Cucurella a torrid time, skipping past the Spaniard a few times to get into the Chelsea area.

The South American was really enjoying himself, but sadly he could not continue for the second-half, after suffering a heavy blow just before the break.

Gary Neville was left impressed by City’s new boy, saying on Sky Sports just before half-time: “This was brilliant from Savinho, he’s had a brilliant last 10 minutes, how smooth does he look?! He’s looked exciting to say the least.”

Savinho looks brilliant

Savinho was only able to play for 45 minutes today – but he already looks comfortable in this side.

One gets the feeling that he is going to be very popular at the Etihad. The resemblance to Riyad Mahrez in terms of style is really uncanny, and you can tell he has spent a lot of time watching him.

Hopefully his injury is not serious, because fans already can’t wait to see him in action again.

With Bobb looking like he’ll be out for a few months, it will be important for Savinho to take the chances that come his way. Pep will surely be counting on him a fair bit in these opening stages of the season.
