Manchester City return to Premier League action on Saturday, welcoming Newcastle United to the Etihad Stadium following the midweek misery against Real Madrid in the Champions League.
Manchester City are on home soil once again on Saturday. But Pep Guardiola will be hoping to avoid the misery of Tuesday night’s Champions League defeat against Real Madrid.
The Spanish giants came from behind to beat City 3-2, piling the pressure on Guardiola ahead of the revere fixture at the Bernabeu next week.
But before then, City have a really tough game against Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United at the Etihad Stadium. The Magpies have won 12 of their last 14 games in all competitions, winning all of their last three away games in the top flight.
Currently sitting in 6th place of the Premier League table compared to City in 5th, level on 41 points, Newcastle have beaten Southampton, Spurs, and Manchester United in their last three away games in the Premier League.
Man City meanwhile have lost just one of their last seven in the top flight. But their last outing was that 5-1 defeat at Arsenal, with two defeats in three for City.

Gary Neville shares his Man City vs Newcastle United score prediction
Speaking on The Overlap’s Stick To Football, former United man Gary Neville weighed in with his score prediction for Saturday’s 3m game at the Etihad. And he’s predicted more misery for the struggling Cityzens.
“Newcastle score goals. I think this will be a draw. 2-2… Newcastle are scoring goals there.” Jill Scott then added: “The thing is when you have a defeat you need to bounce back. But they will be so flat, they will be demoralised there. I’d have gone Newcastle over City. I think [Alexander] Isak and [Anthony] Gordon.”
Earlier in the season when City and Newcastle met at St James’ Park, the game ended 1-1 with Josko Gvardiol scoring for City, and Gordon netting a 58th minute penalty to steal a point.
On Saturday, Man City looked set to be without Jack Grealish who limped off in the game against Madrid.
Man City record vs Newcastle United
Newcastle have been well beaten by Manchester City in the last few years. In fact, of the last 14 meetings between the two, City have won 10, drawn three and lost just once.
The last Newcastle win over Man City was a 1-0 defeat in the League Cup during the 2023/24 campaign.
And the last time City lost a Premier League match against the Magpies was way back in January 2019. You have to go all the way back to September 2000 for the last time that Newcastle beat Man City away from home.
The game on Saturday kicks off at 3pm.
