Gary Neville gave Bernardo Silva a huge compliment, as Manchester City lifted the Premier League title today.

City’s status as title-winners was confirmed last night, following Arsenal’s defeat to Nottingham Forest.

It is City’s fifth Premier League title in six years.

City stepped up their pursuit of the title earlier this year, and have been absolutely relentless.

Arsenal started to wobble a couple of months ago, and City pounced.

So many players have stepped up, with Erling Haaland and Kevin De Bruyne stealing most of the headlines.

Ruben Dias came back into the team and completely shored up the defence.

Rodri has been incredible operating as a holding midfielder. And Ilkay Gundogan has again come in clutch for City at the business end of the season.

And it has been yet another fantastic season for Bernardo Silva.

He didn’t feature in today’s 1-0 win over Chelsea.

But the Portuguese has put in so many brilliant displays, and so many City fans are desperate for him to stay at the club.

Today, as the City players were being called up one by one for their medals before the lifting of the trophy, Gary Neville put in a little word for the 28-year-old.

He said: “And he’s just amazing Bernardo Silva. I never thought you could see David Silva replaced. He almost does the job.”

A major compliment for Bernardo Silva from Gary Neville, he could become another David Silva if he stays at Manchester City

Bernardo is a phenomenal player and it is horrible to think he might leave this summer.

Neville is right to mention him in the same breath as David Silva though.

Bernardo is technically as good as the Spaniard, but he probably has a better engine and tenacity about him.

Many City fans will likely still say David is the better Silva.

But when Bernardo leaves, a conversation will be had and the longer he stays at the club, the more likely it is that the debate will be more 50-50.
