Gary Neville has moved to praise a key backroom figure at Manchester City for his ‘massive’ contributions to the club.
City have enjoyed untold success over the last decade and things are only getting better after they clinched the Champions League for the first time last season.
The triumph in Istanbul saw Pep Guardiola’s side claim a historic treble and it’s still on the cards for them to do so again this year.
Manchester United great Neville has singled out Txiki Begiristain as a key man behind City’s astonishing achievements.

Gary Neville praises Txiki Begiristain
Speaking on the Stick to Football podcast, Neville said: City’s “Begiristain, you never hear or see of him, but you just know.
“You talk about connections and relationships, I have not seen him loads of times, but I think he is massively connected and understands the whole fabric of agents. He is massive.
It shows how well Man City is run
Who’d have thought you don’t need to be a celebrity constantly in the headlines to run a football club?
While everyone has known every key figure at United for years, most laymen would probably struggle to name those behind the scenes at City.
Begiristain actually joined City as director of football all the way back in 2012 and he – alongside several others – has been absolutely crucial in creating a culture of success.
Building blocks were being put in place four years before Guardiola even arrived at the Etihad Stadium to ensure the club was perfectly attuned to his every need and want.
Begiristain has been especially crucial on the transfer front, helping create a squad that is one of the greatest to ever play the game.
City obviously have endless cash reserves and have utilised them but there are still clubs that have spent more and they are nowhere near the Blues’ level.
Neville is right, Begiristain has been ‘massive’ for City.
