Manchester City striker Erling Haaland has said that he is desperate to start playing again.

The centre-forward has been out of action since December with an ankle injury, resulting in him missing five Premier League games and both of City’s matches in the FIFA Club World Cup.

With the Manchester club having a successful night in Dubai at the Globe Soccer Awards, this gave Haaland the opportunity to speak out about his injury issue and how much he is looking forward to getting back on the pitch.

After being named the best men’s player for 2023 at the Globe Soccer Awards, Haaland had this to say about City and his eventual return to action.

He said: “Manchester City is a fantastic club, I really enjoy being here. I hope to be back really soon from injury, I’m getting bored of not playing.”

City signed the Norwegian during the 2022 summer transfer window from Borussia Dortmund in a deal worth £51m.

Haaland then went on to have a rather successful debut season in Manchester by scoring 52 goals in 53 games and winning the Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League.

Having then gone on to score 19 goals in 22 appearances this season, it’s easy to see why the striker is so desperate to get back to full fitness and help his team continue their push to regain the trophies they lifted last term.

Last weekend, Pep Guardiola revealed that the Norway international had suffered a slight setback in his recovery and will likely be back to full fitness at the end of the month.

Looking at how important Haaland’s goals have been since his arrival at the Etihad Stadium, it’s safe to say that his return to action will give Guardiola’s side a great boost to their chances of winning more trophies.
