Pundit Craig Burley has claimed that Phil Foden could be Manchester City’s star player for the rest of the Premier League campaign.
The Englishman recently put in an eye-catching performance in City’s 3-1 win over Everton where he scored the Manchester club’s first goal of the evening with a long-range strike from outside the box.
This has since led to one pundit and former top-flight player sharing his thoughts on the City star and what he could offer his side over the next few months.
Foden could be City’s ‘gold dust’ according to Burley

Speaking in a recent video on the ESPN FC YouTube channel, Burley had this to say about Foden and the impact he could have throughout the remainder of the season.
He said: “Phil Foden, if he can get a second half of the season, if he can get it going, we know Bernardo Silva is such a consistently fantastic player but I think Phil Foden really can add some gold dust onto this team and that’s how good he is.
“He has to do it consistently because there’s competition for places.”
This season has seen the 23-year-old make 18 Premier League appearances, scoring five goals and providing four assists.
However, the majority of his appearances have seen him feature in the right-wing role rather than as an attacking-midfielder.
Looking back over the win against Everton, where the England international did play more centrally, Foden ended the game with three key passes, five shots at goal and three successful dribbles out of four attempted.
Having earned himself a strong match rating of 8.3/10 from SofaScore for his efforts on Wednesday, making him the highest-rated City player on the night, it’s easy to see why Burley thinks Foden has what it takes to be a key figure for his side throughout the remainder of the season.
