Pundit and former Manchester City player Micah Richards has shared his thoughts on Pep Guardiola’s recent comments about his, Jamie Carragher’s and Gary Neville’s Premier League titles.
Earlier this week, after the Sky Sports trio dissected City’s 3-3 draw against Tottenham Hotspur, Guardiola said that he doesn’t think any complacency has set into his squad, despite their recent run of form, before naming Richards, Neville and Carragher in regards to not being aware of what it’s like to win four Premier League titles in a row.
With Carragher and Neville sharing their own responses to Guardiola’s comments, Richards has now had the chance to share his verdict on the matter.
Richards weighs in on Guardiola comments

Speaking in a recent edition of The Rest Is Football, Richards had this to say about Guardiola’s comments about the Sky Sports punditry trio.
He said: “I was thinking to myself how have I been put into this situation when I’ve been nothing but positive about Man City? I said maybe individual mistakes and talked about centre-halves coming into midfield and not stopping the counterattack.
“Dave Jones asked me on air are City taking their foot off the gas and I basically said no. But what he said I didn’t find disrespectful. I thought fair play, if someone has asked you a question and you want to say something, I took no offence to it at all but it’s the headlines after.
“And then all the Man City fans, ‘Pep puts Micah back in his place, Micah is supposed to be one of us, he’s supposed to be City through and through and he’s slagging City off.’ I never once slagged City off so it’s gone full circle.”
Now that Richards has said that he didn’t criticise City and wasn’t offended by Guardiola’s comments, it seems odd that the Spaniard named him in his rant.
With his side not having won any of their four previous Premier Leagues games, even though they’ve had to deal with injuries, suspensions and a tough run of fixtures, Guardiola’s main focus will now be on getting the Citizens to get back to winning ways, starting with their next match against Luton Town on Sunday.
