Chris Sutton has shared his prediction for Manchester City’s upcoming Premier League match against Chelsea.

After beating Everton 2-0 last weekend, the Citizens followed that up by securing a 3-1 win over Copenhagen in the Champions League on Tuesday.

This weekend sees Pep Guardiola’s side return to domestic action with a clash against Chelsea, who beat Crystal Palace 3-1 on Monday night.

Looking ahead to the game, one pundit has shared his thoughts on where the points will go on this occasion.

Writing in his latest column for BBC Sport where he previewed and predicted the scores for all of this weekend’s Premier League fixtures, Sutton had this to say about Saturday’s showdown at the Etihad.

He said: “Chelsea gave it a real go in that draw in November, but the defending champions have gone up a notch or two since then, while Mauricio Pochettino’s side keep going up and down. 2-0.”

With 24 league games played, Chelsea have won 10, drawn four and lost 10, leaving them 18 points and eight places below City in the table.

In addition to that, Pochettino’s side have scored 15 fewer goals than City and have conceded 15 more than them.

This makes it easy to see why Sutton thinks the home side should walk away with all three points once again.

However, as the pundit mentioned, the fact that Guardiola’s side only came away with a point from a 4-4 scoreline when the two clubs met earlier in the season should act as a reminder that this may not be a straightforward game for the home team.

With the Citizens chasing the Premier League title once again and having to compete against Liverpool and Arsenal, they will have to make sure they beat Chelsea and stay on track to potentially make history and become the first side to win it for a fourth time in a row.
