Graeme Souness believes Bruno Fernandes would be terrific at Manchester City.

The pundit had his say on Fernandes as a player, while chiming in on his attitude on the pitch while speaking to talkSPORT.

Interestingly, Tim Sherwood held the same opinion as Graeme Souness about the Portuguese midfielder.

Graeme Souness says Bruno Fernandes would be “fantastic” at Manchester City

Jill Scott recently claimed that the 29-year-old would not be allowed to be as positionally undisciplined at the Etihad Stadium as she feels he is at Old Trafford.

While the Manchester United captain is widely viewed as a top player, many wonder why he is not up there amongst the crème-de-la-crème of stars in world football.

However, Graeme Souness believes Bruno Fernandes would be thriving if he played for Manchester City.

“He is a player. I don’t think he’s a captain. In terms of quality, if he played for Liverpool or if he played for City, he would be a fantastic player. We would not be having this conversation. All this, shaking the head is majorly disappointing. He wouldn’t be losing as many games [at Liverpool or Manchester City] and he wouldn’t be so frustrated.”

“But I accept his body language isn’t great at times and I was majorly disappointed of him in the 7-0 defeat at Anfield last year when he just stopped running back”, he told talkSPORT.

Bruno Fernandes has the quality to play for the treble-winners

Graeme Souness raises a fair point about Bruno Fernandes, in our view, who certainly has the talent to play for a club like Manchester City.

The former Sporting CP talisman is one of the most creative players in the Premier League, capable of setting up his teammates and scoring goals galore.

Even last season, Fernandes showed a much more composed side to his game, as his end product was not at its highest but his approach in possession was calmer than usual and he showed a level of comfortability when tasked to play in deeper areas of the pitch.

Being a number 10 in the same vein as names like Kevin De Bruyne and Phil Foden, whether Bruno Fernandes would start for Manchester City is another question.

However, in terms of the natural ability he possesses, Fernandes would not look out of place at City, especially if his game was fine-tuned to fit into Guardiola’s system.
