Graeme Souness is regarded as one of the greatest British players in history.
The Liverpool legend was a defensive midfielder by trade — renowned for his incredible defensive work, courage in the middle of the park and leadership.
Souness won five First Division titles, three European Cups and four League Cups in a row as some of his biggest honours.
The Scotsman well and truly went down as a great of the game.
The pundit also played professional football made 537 appearances during his club career.
Speaking on The Three Up Front podcast, Souness was asked which current player in the Premier League reminds him of himself.
The veteran named a player who is currently playing for Manchester City.

Souness names Man City’s Rodri as his modern-day version
The player in question who Souness named was none other than Rodri.
Wayne Rooney claimed Rodri is similar to Sergio Busquets — a player he is often likened to.
Much like Busquets, the £62.5 million man is an outstanding technician and primarily, a master of dictating the tempo of games and being perfectly positioned defensively.
But now, Graeme Souness has revealed why Rodri reminds him of himself.
Souness said: “I played as a holding midfield player, the best one out there now is the one at Man City, Rodri. So, I’d love to be mentioned in the same breath as him.”
“He’s a class act. Does he get enough goals? No but he does get important ones, he turns up.”
“He gets in anyone’s team.”
“He’s elegant, he sees a pass. He only goes that way [forward] with the ball.”
In March, Graeme Souness named Rodri as one of the greatest midfielders in Premier League history as well.

Rodri should be honoured by Graeme Souness’ admission
Considering Graeme Souness had the illustrious career he had and especially dominated English football with Liverpool, Rodri should be honoured by his comments.
With the trajectory that the Spanish international is on, he could potentially even surpass Souness in the masses’ eyes.
But regardless, for a footballing legend to make such a massive claim about a modern player speaks volumes of how much they rate them.
Furthermore, it is a testament to Rodri’s greatness that Graeme Souness singled him out of all the players in the Premier League.
The Manchester City midfielder will likely appreciate Souness’ comments.
The 71-year-old perhaps also appreciates Rodri’s game as much as he does due to playing at the base of midfield as well during his career.
