Pep Guardiola must start Matheus Nunes in Manchester City’s upcoming Premier League match against Everton.
After beating Brentford away from home on Monday, the Citizens will be back in front of their home fans tomorrow as they face off against the Toffees who are fighting to get out of the relegation zone.
In terms of what Guardiola’s starting XI could look like for this game, one figure who didn’t feature against Brentford who we feel should be in the team on this occasion is Nunes.
Guardiola must unleash Nunes against Everton

Looking back prior to the Brentford game, Nunes delivered an impressive performance in City’s 3-1 win over Burnley.
Not only did the midfielder provide the assist for City’s opening goal against Vincent Kompany’s side, he also ended up making four key passes in total across the 90 minutes.
Bearing in mind how Everton have only conceded five more goals than City this season, having someone like Nunes in the team who can unlock a defence and create goalscoring opportunities for his teammates could be a key aspect in this game.
Having also hurt Burnley with his long runs forward with the ball, this shows how much of a danger he could be for the Toffees’ defensive players.
Previously described as an “unbelievable” player by Goncalo Santos, Nunes certainly has what it takes to hurt Sean Dyche’s team and help City continue their winning streak.
Also, with Guardiola’s side set to return to Champions League action on Tuesday with their round of 16 first-leg clash against Copenhagen, putting the former Wolves star in the starting XI tomorrow could give the City boss the chance to give someone who started against Brentford a rest.
Moving forward, with tomorrow’s match against Everton in mind, we feel that this could give Nunes another chance to show what he can do for his side and help them take a step closer to potentially regaining the Premier League title.
