Josko Gvardiol has named the one Manchester City player he can’t wait to play alongside.

The Manchester club recently announced they had signed the 21-year-old on a five-year deal from RB Leipzig.

With this deal now official, the defender has been speaking to City’s media about his move to the Etihad Stadium and much more.

Speaking in his first interview with the club on their YouTube channel, Gvardiol had this to say about Erling Haaland in particular.

He said: “We all know what he has done last season and congratulations to Erling. It’s nice to have him on the side.

“Last season and the season before in the Bundesliga, he’s a tough player, strong, fast, he has everything to become one of the best in the world. Luckily I’m on his side now I don’t have to take care of him anymore.”

The Citizens signed the striker last summer in a deal worth a reported fee of £51m.

Since then, across his debut season in England, Haaland scored 52 goals in 53 appearances across all competitions, winning his first Premier League title, FA Cup and Champions League.

Back in March, the 23-year-old had a memorable night as he scored five goals in City’s 7-0 win over Leipzig, which Gvardiol played in.

This makes it easy to see why the Croatian is happy to be in the same side as the City striker rather than having to face off against him as an opponent again.

With Pep Guardiola’s side being so successful last season in terms of the number of trophies they got their hands on, it would also be safe to say that Gvardiol would want to help Haaland and the rest of the players at City to be as successful next season and beyond.

Moving forward, if the new City recruit can help strengthen the defence and if Haaland can continue scoring plenty of goals, they’ll surely give the treble winners a great chance of lifting more silverware.
