David Ornstein has claimed that there have been suggestions that Manchester City could attempt to secure a transfer deal for Kylian Mbappe this summer.
The Frenchman is currently in the middle of a rather unpleasant transfer saga as he’s been put up for sale by Paris Saint-Germain after revealing he doesn’t want to sign a contract extension, meaning that the club are being forced to sell this summer or risk losing him as a free agent next year.
With the 24-year-old’s immediate future up in the air, the prospect of him joining a Premier League side has become the topic of discussion, with one journalist sharing what he’s heard about the possibility of City making a move to sign him.
Ornstein discusses potential Mbappe transfer move

Speaking in a recent video on the FIVE YouTube channel, Ornstein had this to say when asked about the likelihood of seeing Mbappe join a Premier League side this summer.
He said: “Many have raised that possibility, whether it’s realistic or not, I’m pretty doubtful.
“You’ve got an enormous salary there which, not many Premier League clubs, if any, could finance and comply with financial fair play rules.
“There have been suggestions that maybe only Man City could do this deal, especially if it was a transfer fee involved. Fee and salary wipes pretty much wipes out every Premier League club.
“Of course, they all like him, who wouldn’t like him? There’ll be interest from every club, there’d be admiration from Chelsea, from Manchester United, from Arsenal, from Man City, from Liverpool, but that doesn’t mean they’re going to be able to do this deal.
“I’d be surprised if he came to the Premier League. I think the common consensus is that one way or the other, he’s going to be heading to Real Madrid.”

During his time at PSG, the attacker has scored 212 goals and delivered 98 assists across 260 appearances, which showcases why Ornstein said the France international is likely to have many clubs interested in him.
Described as an “unstoppable” player by Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti, Mbappe has previously shared his admiration for the Spanish club and his hopes of playing for them one day.
With that in mind and the fact that Pep Guardiola effectively ruled out the possibility of seeing City make a move for the World Cup winner due to his eagerness to play for Real, it seems like Mbappe won’t be turning up as a new player at the Etihad Stadium this summer.
