Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has said that Oscar Bobb could start in his side’s Carabao Cup clash against Newcastle United.
Speaking to the press ahead of the contest (via BeanymanSports), the Catalan tactician was quizzed about whether the 20-year-old could get a chance on Wednesday night.
Pep Guardiola was open to the possibility of Oscar Bobb coming into the fold for Manchester City and facing Newcastle United.
Pep Guardiola says Manchester City gem Oscar Bobb could start against Newcastle
Branded as ‘unbelievable’ by Guardiola, the Norwegian youngster seems to be making a real impression on him.
Coming on against the likes of Fulham and West Ham in the Premier League as well as against Red Star Belgrade in the Champions League, the highly-rated talent is getting his chances at senior level this season.
Now, Pep Guardiola has said that he could well start Oscar Bobb against Newcastle at St. James’ Park.

“Yeah, he has a chance [to start]”, he said.
“Be himself, we know him, it doesn’t matter how he performs. Try to be himself as best as possible.”
Oscar Bobb should just go out and express himself
As Pep Guardiola said, whether Oscar Bobb sets the world alight or not for Manchester City against Newcastle should not be the goal.
At the end of the day, the Magpies are one of the best teams in the Premier League and it is far from easy for any young player to have the game of their lives against them and that too on their patch.
But what Bobb certainly must do is play as per his natural instincts, as Doku did against West Ham recently.
If the silky technician plays with a sense of confidence on the night, it will only let Guardiola assess his strengths and weaknesses even more and give him an insight into his mentality.
Ultimately, what should not be stripped away from Oscar Bobb’s game is the fearlessness that prospects like him having his age.
