Jamie O’Hara has said that Destiny Udogie is the type of left-back that Manchester City would want in their ranks.

Speaking to talkSPORT (6:20 pm, September 2, 2023), the outspoken pundit gave his two cents on the £15 million (The Athletic) man.

Jamie O’Hara truly believes Destiny Udogie is at the level for Manchester City to be head over heels about him.

Jamie O’Hara says Manchester City would want Destiny Udogie on their books

Currently, City’s left-back options are primarily two centre-backs in Josko Gvardiol and Nathan Ake, branded as ‘exceptional’ by Nedum Onuoha with Rico Lewis and Manuel Akanji being able to operate in the role as well.

Sergio Gomez is also an outside shout to play in the position, except he has only had one full-season of operating as a defender.

As a result, Jamie O’Hara believes Manchester City would be dying to have the in-form Destiny Udogie on their books.

“This season, he looks absolutely brilliant. I mean, he looks like a left-back that Manchester City would want in their team. He is that good.”

While the Italian has been a class apart since his return to Spurs from his loan spell at Udinese, many might disagree with O’Hara’s sentiment.

Destiny Udogie certainly has all the talent in the world

Jamie O’Hara is right in lauding the 20-year-old as a special talent and perhaps Manchester City would happily take him on board.

The youngster is not just capable of operating as a traditional wide left-back but looks at east when asked to invert by Ange Postecoglou.

This would make him an especially top fit at the Etihad Stadium.

But then again, Pep Guardiola has placed an emphasis on employing lockdown defenders in his backline and in that respect, Destiny Udogie cannot match the likes of Nathan Ake, Josko Gvardiol and Manuel Akanji.

However, if Udogie continues to improve, he could perhaps be targeted by the treble-winners one day.
