Jack Grealish has hailed Manchester City teammate Bernardo Silva despite his lack of speed.

The pair have featured in 87 games for City across all competitions together, racking up one joint goal participation.

Now though, the England international has shared some behind-the-scenes insight regarding how close he is with the 29-year-old.

Speaking in a recent video from the Amazon Prime Video Sport YouTube channel Grealish had this to say about Silva.

He said: “He is possibly one of my favourite people I’ve ever met in football. He’s just right up my street, I love him, I swear.

“He’s a magician with the ball, he can just run a game from any position that he’s in. He is so slow and he knows it as well.

“But then, for example in the semi-final and quarter-final last year he’s up against Camavinga in one game and Alphonso Davies in the other so you think it’s game over for him. I think, home and away legs in the two games I think he got two man of the matches out of four.

“To have him in the changing room, he’s the best guy.”

City signed the Portuguese international during the 2017 summer transfer window from AS Monaco in a deal worth £43m.

Since then, Silva has gone on to make 327 appearances for the club across all competitions prior to the FIFA Club World Cup final, scoring 60 goals and providing 62 assists along the way.

Back in June during City’s Treble celebrations, Grealish was seen asking Silva to stay at the Manchester club after rumours emerged linking him with a move away from City, which further highlights just how fond the Englishman is of Silva.

With all of that taken into account, it’s clear that the former Monaco star is a popular figure in the City dressing room and is an example of a player being able to hit the top heights of European football without being blessed with significant pace.
