Pep Guardiola has praised Manchester City midfielder Phil Foden for his current run of form.

The Englishman has appeared in all but one of City’s matches this season across all competitions prior to their Premier League match against Newcastle United at St. James’ Park.

Having been such a prominent figure in City’s side, Foden’s manager has shared his verdict on the sort of form the 23-year-old has been on in recent weeks.

Speaking in his latest press conference ahead of today’s match at Newcastle, Guardiola had this to say about Foden and what he’s been doing on the pitch recently.

He said: “I think Phil is playing one of the best moments I ever seen since we are together! Hopefully he can continue being stable in his private life and training, he loves to play, and being decisive in those terms, in terms of goals and assists and rhythms.”

Across his 30 appearances this season, Foden has found the back of the net 11 times and delivered eight assists, featuring in a number of different midfield and attacking positions.

One goal and three of those assists have come within City’s three previous league outings, which highlights the impressive form he’s on.

With 19 league appearances under his belt prior to the away clash at Newcastle, the England international has the joint-highest total of shot-creating actions (74) and goal-creating actions (10) in the City squad.

His overall performances have earned Foden a strong season rating of 7.32/10 from WhoScored, making him the fourth-highest-rated player at the Manchester club.

Taking all of that into account, it’s understandable why Guardiola has been so impressed with the midfielder, who will hopefully be able to keep his form up for the rest of the season and help his side win the three titles they picked up last term.
