Pep Guardiola lavished praise on to Cole Palmer after his splendid display for Manchester City in their victory against Sevilla.

As relayed by journalist Mike Minay, the Catalan boss reacted to the 21-year-old’s performance in the UEFA Super Cup.

It’s safe to say that Pep Guardiola was content with how Cole Palmer performer in his rare start for Manchester City against Sevilla.

Branded as ‘very intelligent’ by Ashley Cole (via the Daily Mail), the youngster looked sharp from minute one, beating defenders, creating chances for his teammates and fearlessly testing Yassine Bounou.

Scoring the much-needed equaliser, courtesy of an excellent header, Joleon Lescott also went on to label him as an ‘exceptional talent.’

Now, Pep Guardiola has lauded Manchester City gem Cole Palmer for his remarkable outing against Sevilla on Wednesday night.

“He had a good character. it’s hard to play against the likes of Acuna. He’s a young player, it’s not easy for these guys. He played really good and made a fantastic goal too”, he said after the game.

Cole Palmer continues to prove he is first-team ready

Whether it be against Sevilla in the Super Cup or Arsenal in the Community Shield, the Manchester City wonderkid has proven to Pep Guardiola that he belongs at the highest level.

While it may be a risk to afford all of Riyad Mahrez’s vacant minutes to the Englishman, it would be disingenuous to deny that he profiles extremely similarly to the Algerian legend.

From the time Cole Palmer was given a break in the senior time, he has always been brimming with confidence and shown that he is not at all fazed about playing in the first-team for his boyhood club.

As Palmer continues to prove his mettle, it would be wise to make him a key member of the senior team this season, especially in a position like right wing where City have no natural options at their disposal.
