Scott Minto has claimed that Roberto De Zerbi would be a perfect replacement for Pep Guardiola at Manchester City.
The 52-year-old made the comment when speaking on talkSPORT’s Premier League All Access podcast.
So, what did Scott Minto say about Roberto De Zerbi and Manchester City? Let’s take a look…
What’s the story?
Well, the talkSPORT pundit feels the Italian would be an ideal fit for the Citizens, both in terms of playing style, as well as in the way he likes to operate with those in the boardroom.
When discussing rumours of Real Madrid being interested in De Zerbi, Minto said: “I don’t think anyone controls Florentino Perez. If you want to go, sort of, really aiming high… I think he suits Manchester City.
“I think Manchester City would give him, like they give Pep, the control, and I don’t think the style of football is a million miles away (from Guardiola).”

The Spaniard’s contract at the Etihad Stadium runs until July 2025.
According to the Guardian and ESPN, Guardiola plans to leave Manchester City when his current terms expire, by which point he would have spent nine years at the Etihad Stadium.
Manchester City should begin Roberto De Zerbi pursuit soon
In our view, Manchester City should already be speaking to De Zerbi about replacing Guardiola in 2025.
The 44-year-old has done a remarkable job at Brighton since replacing Graham Potter in September 2022, guiding the Seagulls into the UEFA Europa League with a sixth place finish in the Premier League last season.

In total, the Brescia-born tactician has won 24 of his 47 games in charge of Brighton, drawing seven while losing 16 as his side score 106 goals in those outings.
De Zerbi also plays an advanced, possession-based style of football which Manchester City fans have become accustomed to under Guardiola, so as Minto states, the transition would presumably be a seamless one for the Citizens.
