Carlos Borges has named the one Manchester City player that has told him how pleased he is to be a part of Pep Guardiola’s squad.
The winger has yet to feature in a competitive senior game for the Citizens but has trained with the first team on occasion.
With the new season approaching, the 19-year-old has revealed to one former City player who he has spoken to previously about being in and around the first team – Rico Lewis.
Borges shares who he has spoken to in the City first team

Speaking in a recent video published on the club’s YouTube channel, Borges had this to say when asked by Nedum Onuoha if he looks to some of the younger players in the senior squad for advice or the older ones when he’s around the first team.
He said: “I do a bit of both because I think that you learn from both so when I go with the first team to train sometimes I speak to, for example, Kyle Walker, Bernardo [Silva] and Rico, I speak to him almost every day he tells me how good it is the feeling and the experience and he’s loving it at the moment.”
Last season saw Lewis feature in 23 senior games for Guardiola’s side, 16 of which he started, which shows how much faith the manager has in him to be a useful figure in the first team when called upon.

This also shows why Borges has been speaking to the 18-year-old about what it’s like being in and around the senior squad and playing in first-team matches.
Moving forward, even though the winger has not been with Guardiola’s squad for their pre-season tour of Asia, it’ll be interesting to see if he manages to get any game time for City’s first team next season.
Taking into account how Borges scored 29 goals and delivered 18 assists in 32 youth appearances last season, this could put him in a good position to make his senior debut if he’s still at the club by the end of the current summer transfer window.
