Pep Guardiola has shared what Erling Haaland told him on Sunday, after he went off injured in Manchester City’s 6-1 win over Bournemouth.
City thumped the Cherries at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday to go top of the Premier League, but there were no goal involvements for Haaland who spoke to Guardiola after the match.
Haaland was withdrawn at half-time, with Phil Foden replacing the Norwegian superstar. Foden would go on to score, assisted by the amazing Jeremy Doku.
After the game, Pep had said that the 23-year-old had twisted his ankle and that they did not want to take any risks with him.
That is obviously understandable, given he is a world-class goalscorer.
Today, Pep has been speaking ahead of Tuesday night’s game with Young Boys in the Champions League. There, he provided another update on Haaland…
Pep Guardiola says Erling Haaland told him he was feeling much better on Sunday

Fans have been patiently waiting for news about Haaland’s condition after he was taken off against Bournemouth.
It looks as though the superstar will not be out for very long at all. The day after the game, Haaland told Pep that he already felt better.
Guardiola said (via mancity.com): “I can’t [give an update].
“We train this afternoon, so I don’t know. I speak with the doctor and him. He told me he felt better, but I don’t know.”
Haaland has managed to stay in very good condition since he signed for City in the summer of 2022.
He did pick up a few injuries during his time at Borussia Dortmund and some wondered if he would have a similar experience in England.
But that has not been the case, with Haaland having clocked up 69 appearances for the club so far in just over a year.
Pep surely won’t risk Haaland against Young Boys
It sounds as though Haaland’s issue is not serious.
Fans will wait to see what happens this week, but Pep will surely not be playing Haaland against Young Boys even if he does recover in time for the game.
It doesn’t really make sense to risk him, against a side City should dominate at the Etihad.
City have a 100% record in the Champions League so far this season and can surely afford not to have Haaland leading the line on Tuesday night.
The goal should be to get Haaland ready for this weekend’s Premier League game against Chelsea.
