Don Hutchison has lavished praise upon Manchester City new-boy Matheus Nunes for his splendid display against Nottingham Forest.

Speaking on ESPN UK, the pundit gave his two cents on the £53 million (Sky Sports) man’s performance.

Don Hutchison lauded Matheus Nunes after he was one of the standouts for Manchester City in their 2-0 victory against Nottingham Forest.

Branded as ‘unstoppable’ when he carries the ball by Pep Guardiola, the 25-year-old assisted Erling Haaland’s headed goal on Saturday.

All-round, Nunes shone, with his impressive ability in the final third coupled with his relentless work rate standing out against Forest.

“Matheus Nunes deserves a mention, I thought he was magnificent as well”, he said.

Whilst several other names were praised for their showings against Steve Cooper’s side, it is fair to say that the Portuguese midfielder’s outing seems to have gone under the radar.

Matheus Nunes is fitting like a glove in sky blue

Don Hutchison was right to single the Manchester City technician’s performance out against Nottingham Forest.

Once again, the former Wolves lynchpin proved that the question marks about his ability in the final third were unnecessary.

Nunes’ slick passing, intelligent link-up play and excellent ball-carrying ability made him a nuisance for the visitors to contend with.

While off the ball, Matheus Nunes is no slouch either.

As Manchester City had 10 men on the pitch after Rodri’s red card, the former Sporting CP talisman’s athleticism and defensive instincts stood out as he was omnipresent.

The same was the case against Red Star Belgrade as Nunes seems to be tailor-made to be playing for the treble-winners.

Pep Guardiola has a genuine all-rounder of a midfielder on his hands who is expected to only get better and better.
