Pep Guardiola has revealed that Jack Grealish will be in the Manchester City squad for tomorrow’s FA Cup clash against Newcastle United.

After picking up an injury in City’s 3-1 win over Copenhagen in February, the Englishman was forced off the pitch after just 38 minutes into his return during the club’s 6-2 win over Luton Town in the FA Cup.

As the Citizens prepare to take on the Toon and fight for a place in the semi-finals of the FA Cup, the City manager has shared an update regarding Grealish and his availability.

Speaking in his latest press conference ahead of tomorrow’s clash against the Tyneside club, Guardiola had this to say about Grealish and his fitness situation.

He said: “Yeah [Jack is getting better]. He’ll be selected in the group [for this weekend].”

This season has seen the 28-year-old feature in 27 games for City across all competitions, scoring three goals and supplying two assists in the process.

Even though Grealish has not been delivering goal contributions on a regular basis this season, having him back in the squad is definitely a big positive for the Blues, especially as they have a pivotal period of the campaign ahead of them.

However, looking ahead to tomorrow’s match against the Magpies, we feel that Guardiola should be cautious about how much game time he potentially gives the winger based on how he couldn’t even make it through the first half at Luton in the last time he made his return from injury.

Therefore, it could be wise for the England international to start tomorrow’s game on the bench and then come on in the later stages of the match to get some minutes him.

Beyond that, the upcoming international break could then give Grealish the chance to do more training and get back to full fitness ahead of what will be a crucial couple of months for City at the end of the season.
