‘Here we go’: Fabrizio Romano claims wonderkid is now joining Tottenham, after Man City failed with £11m bid

Luka Vuskovic has now joined Tottenham – after Manchester City failed with a bid for the Croatian wonderkid.

That is according to Fabrizio Romano.

So, what is the situation involving Manchester City and Luka Vuskovic? Let’s take a look…

What’s the story?

Well – according to The Athletic – Manchester City made a £10.5m bid for the Hajduk Split sensation back in March.

It was said that Manchester City wanted to fend off fierce competition for Vuskovic as many of Europe’s elite sides looked at the 16-year-old prodigy, and hence became the first side to submit an offer.

Now – however – Pep Guardiola’s side have lost out to Tottenham.

Romano claims that Spurs have now completed the signing of Vuskovic, and the centre-back will officially move to north London when he turns 18 in 2025.

The reliable Italian journalist wrote on Twitter: “Tottenham have completed the agreement to sign Luka Vuskovic from Hajduk Split, here we go confirmed — done deal. It’s all sealed on clubs and player side. 16-year-old top talented centre-back will join Spurs in 2025. Exclusive story, confirmed.”

Manchester City have missed out on a gem in Luka Vuskovic

Manchester City fans probably won’t be too upset by this news – seeing as they only recently signed Josko Gvardiol, another Croatian defender who Vuskovic would ideally like to emulate.

The Citizens are also wealthy enough to pinch the teenager from Tottenham when he eventually fulfils his potential.

Having said that, there’s no denying that Manchester City have missed out on a diamond.

Very few 16-year-old footballers attract a £10.5m bid from a treble winning side, so that offer alone spoke volumes about just how precocious a talent Vuskovic really is.

As aforesaid, Manchester City are in a position to afford Vuskovic when he eventually fulfils his vast potential, and are likely to still be a highly successful side by that point, one who can attract his attention.

Ultimately – however – if the Citizens do revive their interest later down the line, we would expect Vuskovic to cost considerably more than the £10.5m Manchester City offered back in March.
