Manchester City have finally reached an agreement to sign Josko Gvardiol from RB Leipzig.

City have been chasing the defender for weeks, hoping to land one of the most promising young players in the world.

Despite having been solid at the back for months, the feeling at the club has been that Gvardiol could take City to the next level.

Leipzig have dug their heels in over the youngster, described as ‘an extraordinary talent’ by former Croatia striker Ivica Olic.

But the German side recently landed young centre-back El Chadaille Bitshiabu from Paris Saint-Germain, which perhaps indicated City’s pursuit of Gvardiol would soon wrap up.

And it looks like he will now be signing.

Fabrizio Romano says Manchester City and RB Leipzig have finally reached an agreement over Josko Gvardiol

This evening, renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano has tweeted that City and Leipzig have finally reached an agreement for the transfer of Gvardiol.

He writes as an exclusive: “Joško Gvardiol to Man City, here we go! Agreement reached on the fee between City and Leipzig.

“Understand Gvardiol has completed the first part of medical tests today — deal on the verge of being signed. Gvardiol agreed personal terms one month ago with City.”

For now, he stops short of saying exactly how much City are set to pay.

But at this stage, few will really care. This is a hugely exciting update for City fans.

Romano is one of the best and most reliable journalists out there.

Many have been hanging on his every word about Gvardiol and he has now uttered the three words everyone has been waiting for.
