Manuel Akanji has named one Manchester City player he thinks has improved massively.

The defender is in the middle of his second season at the Manchester club after he helped them win the Treble in his first campaign.

Now though, the centre-half has shared his thoughts on one particular figure he has been sharing the dressing room with this season.

Akanji says Man City teammate has got so much better this season

Speaking in a recent interview with Hypebeast, Akanji had this to say about Oscar Bobb when asked which of City’s young players have impressed him this season.

He said: “Oscar Bobb has improved so much too, he has been training with us for a while, but this season he has been learning more from all the other players. He’s a baller.”

After making 114 appearances for City’s youth ranks across all competitions, scoring 31 goals and providing 33 assists along the way, the winger has been a permanent figure in Pep Guardiola’s senior squad for this season.

With 22 appearances under his belt in the first team across all competitions, Bobb has scored two goals and supplied two assists.

Guardiola also thinks highly of Oscar Bobb

Akanji isn’t the only person to praise the 20-year-old and his efforts this season, as Guardiola had this to say about Bobb after his performance in City’s 5-0 win over Huddersfield Town in the FA Cup back in January.

He said: “He is a guy who receives the ball as a striker in the pockets and his first turn – he is quite similar to Phil [Foden].

“He is an incredible threat – he was lucky for the goal but he has to be there and after he had two or three shots blocked.

“It’s another 90 minutes and always he has played – in pre-season, in the Red Star game and as a substitute – at a high, high level.

“It’s another player from the Academy coming here and it’s good.”

All of this says to us that Bobb is very highly thought of at City and has what it takes to become a key figure for the team in the future .
